Objective:
When our client Sekisui House, a Japanese building company known for its precision, sustainability, and timeless craftsmanship, approached Birch & Bow, the goal was to create a gift box that reflected brand’s values and aesthetic. The gift needed to feel refined and intentional while drawing on SHAWOOD’s Japanese heritage, love of natural materials, and commitment to thoughtful design.

Inspiration:
Inspired by Japan’s tradition of gift-giving, where every item is selected with purpose, we designed a gift box that balanced tradition with modern elegance. The contents of the gift box were carefully selected to create a cohesive story of home, craftsmanship, and thoughtful living.

What’s inside:

  • The YUI teapot by Saliu, crafted in Japan in a 1,300-year-old production region. Chosen as a symbol of hospitality and calm, it created a daily ritual that reflected both craftsmanship and connection.

  • An organic cotton Japanese-style tea towel, chosen for its lightweight, absorbent feel and clean design. 

  • A candle with a rich woody scent inspired by their use of timber and natural materials.

  • A sleek black matte candle snuffer, adding both function and sophistication to the gift.

  • Organic jasmine tea, included to offer a quiet moment of relaxation and reflection.

  • A pine wood gift box featuring a custom engraving on the birch lid. 

  • Mini bouquet, preserved to last

  • A warm welcome message printed on a premium linen card.

The end result:
The finished gift box captured SHAWOOD’s identity in a way that felt both luxurious and personal. Thoughtfully packed with an emphasis on aesthetics and sustainability, it honoured the company’s Japanese heritage while creating a memorable experience for the recipient.
More than a collection of products, the gift became a reflection of harmony, craftsmanship, and refined living.
